PAREF Southridge Afternoon School Courtesy Call to Mayor Jaime Fresnedi

20 October 2016

A select group of PAREF Southridge Afternoon School students and teachers paid a courtesy call to Muntinlupa City Mayor Jaime Fresnedi to thank him personally for his continued support for the scholarship program. Mayor Fresnedi gamely chatted with the group where he talked about several projects of the city government that include the construction of several Senior High School buildings and basketball courts in the different barangays in Muntinlupa. He showed pride, too, in the achievements of several Afternoon School alumni who benefitted from the university scholarships provided by the city government. The Mayor also advised the students to continue their search for excellence and warned them not to allow poverty to be a hindrance in pursuing their dreams. He was thankful for the teachers after informing him of the school’s plan to help seven public schools this summer for the Make A Difference Project. Mr. Marcera, the Afternoon School Principal, in turn presented the Mayor with several school publications and a portrait prepared by Simon Haygood, a Grade 9 student. The city government made a pledge to provide a yearly half-a-million assistance to the AS Scholarship Program. Not satisfied with that, Mayor Fresnedi instructed the Head of the Muntinlupa Scholarship Foundation, Mrs. Karla Vasquez-Gabriel, tom provide financial assistance to 50 current Afternoon School students. The financial assistance consists of a monthly 400-peso allowance to be given to the chosen students.
