Linggo ng Wika 2016
The Buwan Ng Wika was again held last August in school with the theme “Filipino: Wika ng Karunungan.” This is in accordance to the directive of the Department of Education in line with the school’s continuing efforts for the development of the Filipino language among the Southridge students and the inculcation of Filipino values, traditions and culture. The highlights of this year’s celebration included the following activities: Search for Videoke Kings, Madulang Sabayang Pagbigkas (Choral Interpretation), Sayaw-Pistahan (Dance Competition) and Pista ng Wika (Filipino Fiesta). Other interesting activities were also held such as the symposium on the state of the Filipino language in view of the changing modern times given by Mr. Christian Vallez to Grades 10, 11 and Year V students. This is not to forget the ever fun and exhilarating Filipino games held in the morning prior to the Filipino fiesta. As usual, typically Filipino, the fiesta always gives the month-long celebration of Buwan Ng Wika the best conclusion. Gathered as one community and family, practically everyone in school, including many parents garbed in Filipino costume, partake of the sumptuous Filipino food in the covered courts. This is in keeping with the Filipino tradition and spirit of friendship, camaraderie and thanksgiving for a year of good harvest. Mabuhay ang Pamilyang Southridge! Mabuhay ang Pamilyang Filipino!
