11/11/2009 - PAREF SOUTHRIDGE JOINS TEENPRENEUR CHALLENGE 2009

PAREF Southridge School invites everyone to the Teenpreneur Expo this coming Saturday and Sunday, November 14 to 15, 2009, 10 am to 10 pm, at the Atrium of the SM Megamall Building A. The Expo is the culmination of the three - month long Teenpreneur Challenge joined by ten of our outstanding Third Year and Fourth Year high school students. This year's representatives are Daniel Kahn, Jicoy Oblepias, and Timothy Buensalido from Fourth Year, together with Justin Filart, JO Pangilinan, Javier Puno, Kevin Habaluyas, Aldo Manzano, Lance Katigbak, and Chucky Quemado from Third Year.

The Teenpreneur Challenge is a high school entrepreneurship competition that seeks to inculcate in students the values and mindset of entrepreneurship through training workshops and activities as well as through interaction with the country's top entrepreneurs. It is organized by the Entrepreneur School of Asia in cooperation with the GoNegosyo movement for the benefit of Malabon and Boni - Mandaluyong communities and the Gawad Kalinga and Virlanie Foundations. The program seeks to help develop the livelihood projects of the targeted sites by improving their existing products and making them more marketable. It also aims to bring entrepreneurship to the high school level. The role of the students is to supply the selected sites and families with energy, innovation, ideas, and creativity. The Teenpreneur Awards will go to the school with the highest gross sales and the school with the best product innovation.

This year, the Southridge Teenpreneur Team will be selling cupcakes made by the family of Yolanda Ignacio, a baker from Malabon. Dubbed Cupcakes by Bonita Bread, all sale proceeds will go toward improving the livelihood of Aling Yolanda and her family. The cupcakes are fortified with malunggay, commonly hailed as the miracle vegetable, and come in four flavors: banana, carrot, mocha, and chocolate. Each cupcake has a selling price of P30.00.

Everyone is invited to come to the Teenpreneur Expo at the SM Megamall this weekend and support Southridge by purchasing cupcakes from the school's booth. The awarding ceremonies will be held at 7 pm on Sunday.
